◆Formal name : Jingo-san Keiku-ji
On a bright sunny day, if you go up a hill - named "Nichirou-zaka" behind of Keiku-ji, I'm pretty sure that you will feel breezy freshness. You will see the beautiful contrast of color, fare sky,and red tiled roof of Keiku-ji, surrounded by green grove.
The temple was erected in 2 Daido-era by Kaiku-houin, ("houin" means "the priest who gained the first rank")and it was named "Keiku-ji" in relation to the princess royal of Juntokuinn "Yosiko". In the temple precincts, you can see the well that was used bathwater for the princess Yosiko when she was born. And also you can see a cherry blossom tree -send out tillered for three generations-, (the type is "Ukon-Zakura) that was planted by her.
Behind the temple, there is a octagon- shaped hall named "hasso-dou". In the hall, you can see unusual type of "zusi" (a gatefold box -which enshrine Buddha statue). The shape is also octagon. And the best feature is spining around 360 degrees. It has two stories and special Buddha "Konrin-Bucchou",statue is in the 2nd floor, and the first floor,there are 8 Buddha statues"Dainichi-Sanzon" and "Hasso-Daishi" are in it. As it spin, you can worship even i f you don't have to walk around.
